Tension Fabric Structure Purchase Process

The Tension Structure Purchase Process with Fortress Fabric Structures begins with concept development, including illustrations, specifications, and an estimated price. Following an engineering review and deposit, Fortress provides structural drawings and baseplate reactions for permitting and foundation design. Once the contract is signed and final drawings are approved, fabrication begins, leading to coordinated delivery and installation of your custom tension fabric structure.

Estimate

Fortress provides Customer with concept illustrations / structure specifications / estimated foundation reactions* / estimated price.

* Foundation reaction estimates may be provided during the initial concept development for simple cases. Complex scenarios will require a detailed engineering analysis.

Engineering Review

Fortress performs Initial Engineering Review. Deliverables will include initial structural drawings (for permitting) and baseplate reactions used to design the foundation. The Customer commits to Engineering Deposit (typically $5,000) to begin this phase. This deposit is credited to the final price of the Tension Fabric Structure product. Fortress recommends Customer use a local foundation engineer, but we can perform this service. Preferably the Customer has a current geologic soil report for the site. If not, we may be able to use default design soil bearing criteria*.

* Authority Having Jurisdiction will make final determination about what information is required for foundation design.

Contract

Fortress provides final pricing and Customer signs contract for manufacture.

Final Drawings

Fortress provides/Customer approves final structural drawings. Engineering calculations accompany final structural drawings.

Fabrication Begins

Steel / fabric fabrication begin. In parallel, Customer prepares the foundation if required.

Finalize Accessories

Coordinate w/ other trades if required (e.g. licensed electrician).

Replacement Cover Purchase Process

The Replacement Cover Purchase Process at Fortress Fabric Structures ensures a seamless and accurate fit for your tension fabric structure. Whether your building was originally manufactured by Fortress or another company, their team will guide you through dimension collection, material confirmation, and fabrication. From quote to final delivery, Fortress provides expert support to deliver a custom cover designed to your structure’s exact specifications.

Step

Determine if the Tension Fabric Structure (TFS) was manufactured by Fortress Fabric Structures (or predecessor Shelter Structures) or was manufactured by another OEM. If the former, then Fortress likely has the original fabric pattern(s) on file. For Fortress/Shelter designs, Fortress can quickly provide a price for a replacement cover based on our proprietary documentation for your TFS. For TFS by other manufacturers, Fortress will send you our Replacement Cover Template (and End Wall Measurement Grid if applicable) to the customer. These documents will enable the Customer to obtain the critical dimensions necessary to fabricate a replacement cover system accurately. Fortress can provide an estimated cost based upon Customer’s rough dimensions. If the actual overall dimensions do not vary significantly, that will likely be the final cost as well.

Step

Fortress will ask for a selection of photographs of your existing TFS to allow us to properly fabricate tensioning features in your new cover system. If there are other features (HVAC/doors/openings/etc.) these will be accommodated also. These details become critical when making the actual cover system pattern. This step can be done after Step 3.

Step

Customer signs and returns Fortress Quotation for the Replacement Cover System. Deposit due (company check, wire, ACH, credit card).

Step

Fortress orders materials (if required), confirms fabric pattern details (or creates pattern from Customer-supplied dimensions) and begins fabrication.

Step

When cover system is completed Fortress will advise Customer and arrange final payment and freight. The balance is due prior to the cover leaving our facility. The cover is a bespoke architectural fabric product that cannot be resold, repurposed or reclaimed, so payment is due prior to the product leaving our facility.
